Will of William Cafferty dated 1 Apr 1836 at Upper Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey and the inventory of his estate taken on 1 May 1839. From will obtained names of children, daughters in law and some grandchildren. Also information obtained from "Cafferty Family Genealogy - Josiah Cafferty Grand Old Man of Union and one thousand of his descendants" 1945 by Charles Cafferty of Apalachin, N.Y. Microfilmed by Family History Library in SLC, Utah on 20 Feb 1968, microfilm # 564380 (1st item on roll).
Baptism date of William obtained from the Parish Register at Christ's Church a Shrewsbury, N.J. page 170 states " William,son of John McCafferty was baptized July 23, 1749". This from "Historical and Genealogical Miscellany" by John E. Stillwell, M.D. Call # 974 D2sa in Family History Library, SLC,Utah. Above Charles Cafferty states in a letter dated Nov. 10, 1914 that William Cafferty is buried in Allenton, Monmouth, NJ and he has taken a picture of the tombstone. He also states that William was a tanner, shoemaker and former and lived at Red Bank and last at Allenton, Monmouth, NJ. Other source indicated that William died in Allenton and not Upper Freehold
